Dr. Brandon Coakley, MD

Joining the DLCC team in August, 2017, Dr. Coakley, a board-certified expert in surgical and cosmetic dermatology, is also fellowship-trained in Mohs Surgery. He cares deeply about treating patients with compassion and focuses on empowering them with knowledge. He has trained at several of the premier medical institutions in America and seeks to provide the latest advances in dermatological care to his patients. 

Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Loyola Marymount University, he began his medical career by doing surgical research at Mayo Clinic Arizona and went on to medical school at the University of Arizona, followed by an Internal Medicine internship at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital. 

Dr. Coakley completed a residency at the University of California, Irvine where he trained in medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. He has extensive training in complex dermatology, botulinum/filler injections, laser resurfacing and skin cancer management. While at Irvine he developed a special interest in skin cancer and became an international leader in treatment with photodynamic therapy. 

Following graduation from residency he was board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology, pursued further training in procedural dermatology and remained at UC Irvine for a highly coveted ACGME-accredited fellowship in Cutaneous Oncology and Micrographic Surgery. He is an expert in the Mohs micrographic technique for skin cancer removal on the face, hands and genital skin, as well as reconstruction after cancer removal. 

His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and a Fellow in the American College of Mohs Surgery. Outside of work he enjoys time with his wife and their two children, hiking, cooking and traveling.
