Meredith Bauerband is proud to be one of our Physician Assistants at the Dermatology and Laser Center of Charleston. She was born and raised in Columbia, SC and attended Clemson University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Microbiology in 2009. Following graduation, she moved to Charleston, SC and worked as a phlebotomist, medical assistant, hospital volunteer and volleyball coach for Porter Gaud School in West Ashley. Meredith moved to Tennessee to attend Bethel University’s Physician Assistant program where she graduated as president of her class in May 2017. Her first job as a Physician Assistant was in Interventional Cardiology at Tennova Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Meredith worked both inpatient and outpatient focusing on coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, and valvular disorders. She was married to her husband, Brian in 2017 and hoped to move closer to family in South Carolina. When her husband was offered a position in the Emergency Room in Charleston, SC in October 2019 they jumped at the opportunity to move home.
Meredith always loved Cardiology but knew that her heart was in skincare and cosmetics, so she joined our Dermatology and Laser team last summer. She studied under the supervision of Dr. Todd Schlesinger for six months prior to practicing independently at DLCC. During this time, she learned about dermatology and assisted in skin exams, surgeries, cosmetics and MOHs surgery. She is certified in dermatological surgery, cosmeceuticals, neurotoxins, and fillers and finished her SDPA Fellowship in dermatology in Spring 2020. Meredith’s cosmetic training was enhanced by attending Ashford Aesthetics Facial Courses presented by Kalen Ashford, PA-C whose cosmetic reputation stood out among the best in Charleston. Meredith is a member of the SDPA, AAPA and SCAPA. She is a preceptor of Medical and Physician Assistant students and heads the DLCC mentoring initiative from multiple programs including MUSC, USC, MCG, and VCOM.
Meredith and her husband are blessed with two beautiful girls, Annie and Kate, as well as their 90-lb goldendoodle. Meredith says, “I have always been passionate about dermatology and know it is the perfect fit for me. In addition to my interest in performing surgical procedures, treating skin cancers, and managing complex medical diagnoses—my heart is in cosmetic procedures, skin care, and injectables. The best part of my work is helping people feel like the best version of themselves.”
