John Hendrick, PA-C joined our distinguished team of DLCC providers in the summer of 2019. Being from an Air Force family; John was born in Alaska but eventually moved and grew up in Conway, SC. He attended Coastal Carolina University and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society at Coastal Carolina. In 2001, John graduated from the Physician Assistant Studies Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. Of note, John received a full scholarship for his PA degree through the Grand Strand Auxiliary in Myrtle Beach SC. He also recently completed the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants Diplomate Fellowship Program, an esteemed designation for PAs.
Initially, John spent fourteen years as an Orthopedic Physician Assistant specializing in sports medicine and total joint replacements. John decided to transition to dermatology and has been working in the dermatological field for seven years. He feels that he has found his passion and hopes to continue working and advancing his skills.
John continually thrives to advance his skills in general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Specifically, he has received specialized cosmetic training at the Allergan Facial Aesthetics Course and the Epic Essential Injector Training Program. John was also personally trained by Kalen Ashford, PA at the Ashford Facial Aesthetic Courses. A former Charlestonian, she is considered an expert injector of filler and neurotoxins. Upon her departure to Georgia, Kalen wanted to ensure her patients were well cared for and felt very comfortable with John and his skill set.
John is currently a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. He stays very active with these organizations and regularly attends meetings and lectures on all the exciting new treatments for skin disease. John and DLCC are at the forefront of all the current FDA-approved treatments and strive to ensure these treatments are available to his patients.
When he is not working, John loves spending time with his adoring wife of 30 years and his English cream retriever, Emmie. He also has two sons, living in Charlotte and Richmond, and visits with them often. As an avid musician, he enjoys playing the drums, piano, and guitar. He has been a worship leader at church for nine years and a terrific youth mentor. John continues to enjoy Charleston and loves southern cooking. Being a big advocate of sun protection, John still finds a love for the outdoors and can be spotted surfing the swells as often as possible.
