Dermatology & Laser Center Adds Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon
Brandon J. Coakley, MD, FAAD, FACMS has joined the medical/surgical team at Dermatology & Laser Center of Charleston, it was announced today by Todd E. Schlesinger, MD
and founder of the West Ashley-based medical and cosmetic dermatology practice. Dr. Coakley is fellowship-trained in Mohs surgery which, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation,
is “the single most effective technique for removing basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, the two most common skin cancers. The Mohs procedure spares the greatest amount of healthy
tissue while excising cancer cells and producing cure rates of 98 percent, significantly better than other methods.”
Dr. Schlesinger, a Fellow of the American Society of Mohs Surgery, said “We are immensely pleased to welcome Dr. Coakley. Dr. Coakley is board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow in the American College of Mohs Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
