A better way to attack acne
Ashley Davis, Licensed Esthetician has authored this blog post to inform you about a new therapy for the treatment of acne.
Acne is a persistent and an annoyingly “in your face” problem for many teenagers and adults alike. Most try to resolve with over-the-counter treatments or passed-down-through-time home remedies. When those avenues don’t provide any success, they ultimately seek professional help at a dermatologist or esthetician.
Here at Dermatology & Laser Center of Charleston, we are now offering the state of the art TheraClear Acne System technology that could be the right solution for you.
TheraClear helps to treat mild to inflammatory acne, pustular acne, comedonal acne (blackheads) as well as cystic acne on the face and back. It can be safely used on all skin tone ranges and is suitable for all ages.
TheraClear works by using vacuum suction to remove sebum, the oil the skin produces that ultimately causes acne, from your pores. Broadband light is then used to destroy the p. acne bacteria, reduce sebum production, and dramatically reduces the redness and pigmentary changes associated with acne. There is very little discomfort associated with the procedure and no downtime involved, you may go back to school or work after a treatment.
A series of 4-6 treatments is needed for optimal results. Many patients see noticeable improvement about 1 treatment, but most need 2 treatments to see a modest difference, and 4 – 6 treatments to see significant improvement in their acne. Once a series has been completed, you can maintain your results with a tailored skincare regimen as well as follow-up treatments every 2-3 months.
Theraclear can be used in combination with skincare products and oral/topical medications. It may also be used instead of using topical medications or avoiding Accutane.
